Fall means cooler temperatures, cozy sweaters and crisp air—a truly wonderful time of year when we are treated to vivid colors and pumpkin-flavored everything! Get out and enjoy all the season has to offer in the Youngstown area.
A visit to scenic Mill Creek MetroParks will transport you as you take in the beautiful kaleidoscope of color provided by Mother Nature. Hiking trails, waterfalls, rock formations and bouldering, Fellows Riverside Gardens and Lanterman’s Mill are waiting to be explored.
The fall harvest is celebrated at local farm markets, and White House Fruit Farm in Canfield is a destination sure to please. For over 90 years, the Hull family has grown and sold fresh produce and homemade specialty foods in one of Ohio’s largest and best farm markets.
Starting September 11 and 12, Fall Celebration Weekends begin with pumpkins, hayrides, seasonal décor in their gift barn, and fall food vendors. Fill your market basket to the brim with produce galore, local cheeses, jams, jellies, sauces, local honey, Ohio maple syrup, homemade fudge and much more.
Be sure to take home some of their freshly pressed apple cider. And don’t forget the donuts. Their blueberry donuts are legendary!
Fall is also the time local vineyards are busy harvesting. The Vineyards at Pine Lake and Mastropietro Winery will have vines loaded with grapes that the winemakers will use to create future vintages. Enjoy their outdoor patios for beautiful views of fall color while sipping and sampling.
The world-renowned Butler Institute of American Art has some special exhibits coming this fall—George Dombek’s Bicycles and Barns, Teo Ngyuen’s remarkable landscapes, and Phil Shore’s wood sculptures will be on display. Mark your calendars now for the much-anticipated Steranko and the American Hero exhibit, coming March 13-May 29, 2022.
You don’t want to miss this very special event featuring more than 60 select paintings depicting the most popular and prominent superheroes dominating the current international entertainment scene. Stan Lee cited James Steranko as one of the prime architects of the Marvel Universe. Steranko has also worked with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola on some of their most popular films.
Don’t put your clubs away just yet! Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the fantastic golf courses in the Youngstown area. Beautiful weather and smaller crowds give you the opportunity to extend your playing season. Take in a scenic round or two on one of our challenging courses.
