About the Cabins by the Caves
Cabins by the Caves is a family-owned business established by Robert and Valerie Freda in 2006. The Firefly was a spec cabin built in Big Pine estates by a local builder. It was his first cabin construction at the age of 25.

“It was our very first cabin as we had been looking for a cabin in the Hocking Hills for about a year,” said Valeria Freda, owner of Cabins by the Caves. “All the details fell into place.”

The Fredas lived in Pickerington at the time and thought the cabin would be perfect for personal use, and they knew the Hocking Hills was a popular destination. The cabin was 45 minutes from their home and was close to all the local attractions.

“We chose the name Firefly while sitting out on the front porch glider watching the many fireflies that visited,” said Valerie. “We visit and stay at our cabins to get an idea of what guests might need or want. We spent our 10th wedding anniversary at the Firefly and took advantage of the spa services we offer and the traveling chef.”

The Firefly Cabin is set apart by a stunning mural painted by a local artist. The scene depicts the cabin sitting in the woods, surrounded by fireflies. They hope guests will make special memories just as they did with their family.
