Fall is a beautiful dance of changing colors, crisp air, and earthy smells — one last hurrah before dormancy sets in. Why not spend those precious few weeks soaking in a place that’s authentically awesome?
Zanesville-Muskingum County is a hidden gem in the fall, offering a blend of natural beauty, small-town charm, and memorable experiences that make it a must-see destination.

“Visitors are sure to enjoy stunning fall foliage, classic festivals, a growing art community, cozy downtown vibes, local wineries and breweries, historic sites, and picture-perfect moments,” said Jordin Harmer, CVB Manager for Zanesville-Muskingum.
Family Fun Awaits This Fall
This charming destination is packed with family-friendly activities — starting with McDonald’s Greenhouse & Corn Maze in Zanesville. Beginning in mid-September, a five-acre corn maze challenges you to find your way through, while a petting zoo lets you fall in love with adorable baby animals. Kids will love the giant shelled corn “sandbox,” and the Enchanted Forest adds a magical touch. Don’t forget to grab some garden mums, apple cider, and other fall favorites before you leave!
Celebrate Tradition at the Annual Farm Show
Zanesville-Muskingum is the kind of place you’ll want to return to every year. “It offers the perfect mix of nostalgia and heartfelt hospitality,” said Harmer.
One must-visit event? The Country Crossroads Education of Yesterday Annual Farm Show, happening October 18–19 in Dresden. Now celebrating its 21st year, the farm show offers tractor displays, trucks, engines, and a working history lesson. Hop aboard the Cracker Jack Railroad for a memorable ride, and enjoy live music, kids’ activities, and more.
Pumpkins, Play, and Plenty of Smiles

Another family favorite is PV’s Pumpkin Patch in Frazeysburg — a fall wonderland filled with pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and corn stalks. There’s also a pumpkin slingshot, corn maze, duck races, a jumping pad, and a decorated trail for even more autumn adventures.
Build Your Own Fall Traditions
Zanesville-Muskingum is an area steeped in tradition, with celebrations that have stood the test of time. It’s the perfect place to build your memories — and new traditions — with loved ones, year after year.
In a word, this special place is authentic.
“It’s authentic. Real charm. Real people. Real Ohio,” said Harmer.
