Scioto County’s Pastry Path

As a self-proclaimed foodie with a serious sweet tooth, I had to explore Scioto County’s Pastry Path. From freshly baked croissants to colorful macarons, my visit was as satisfying as it was delicious. Here’s a breakdown of the best bakeries in Scioto County and what you should try when visiting!

The Taylored Cookie and Bakery: Portsmouth’s Sweet Treasure

Located in the heart of Portsmouth, The Taylored Cookie and Bakery is one of the best bakeries in Scioto County for classic baked goods. The aroma of fresh bread and pastries hits you as soon as you walk in, drawing you to their famous long johns. Their sugar cookies? Perfection. I couldn’t resist bringing a box home to share. Maybe all that goodness is rooted in history. After all, the bakery is home to America’s oldest working Hobart Mixer.

Scent From Heaven: Heavenly Croissants in New Boston

If you’re looking for something different, Scent From Heaven is where you want to go. This bakery in New Boston specializes in the most amazing glazed croissants. Plus, the chocolate cake is divine. Of course, a few extra treats found their way home.

Union Mills Confectionery: Homemade Comfort

In West Portsmouth, we came across Union Mills Confectionery, which was unbeatable for its old-time charm. The cinnamon rolls looked decadent, but I can’t resist carrot cake, and wow! Was I glad I didn’t? It was moist and full of flavor, reminiscent of what my grandmother used to make. Not to mention that the staff treats everyone like family and makes sure your take-home goodies are packaged and ready to enjoy later.

’83 Sweets: Artisanal Treats in Portsmouth

’83 Sweets puts a more creative twist on pastries. Known for its beautiful cupcakes and macarons, this Portsmouth bakery consistently serves new and exciting seasonal treats. Their pumpkin spice cupcakes during fall are a personal favorite. With each visit, you’ll find something new, and their artistic attention to detail makes every dessert visually pleasing and delicious. But don’t take my word for it, just ask Food Network. ‘83 Sweets was the winner of Cupcake Wars in Season 7.

Sarah’s Café & Bakery: A Lucasville Gem

Sarah’s Café & Bakery in Lucasville serves freshly baked croissants and irresistible cookies. I couldn’t leave without taking home a few extras for later. Their customer service adds to the charm, as they even warmed up a sandwich for me on the go.

Sweet Treats to Take Home

While I indulged in many treats along the Pastry Path, I couldn’t resist taking some home to share. From long johns at The Taylored Cookie and Bakery to cinnamon rolls from Union Mills, each bakery had something unique.

A Delectable Journey

Scioto County has so much to offer, and now that I know about the Pastry Path, I may have to move here! I experienced delicious delights at each stop, from the classics to treats with a more modern twist. But what they all had in common was the attention to detail and the love and care that goes into every bite.

Do yourself a favor and plan a visit to Scioto County and check out some or all of these delightful bakeries. You won’t be sorry.
