This engaging center connects visitors with 200 years of change, invention, and culture.

Founders Day 2025: A Deeply Personal Celebration

One of the most significant Summit County events in 2025 is the 90th Annual Founders Day for Alcoholics Anonymous. Held June 6–8 at the University of Akron and the surrounding area, this international gathering draws thousands.

Why Akron? In 1935, a meeting between a New York businessman and a local doctor, Dr. Bob Smith, sparked the global AA movement.

This year’s celebration includes:

  • Speaker Meetings & Panels
  • Live Theatre: “Gift to the World”
  • Spanish-language Sessions & Youth Panels
  • Tours of Historic AA Sites
  • Dance and Music Events

Sunday’s closing features a powerful motorcade to Dr. Bob’s gravesite, honoring the movement’s legacy.
