Wine & Walleye Festival in Ashtabula, Ohio: Where Summer Tastes Better by the Lake

Firewords are exploding over the Ashtabula Harbor with a raised bridge aglow in blue lights as the town celebrates the Wine & Walleye Festival

Celebrate Lake Erie’s Best with Wine, Walleye, and Waterfront Fun

Each July, the Wine & Walleye Festival brings thousands of visitors to the Historic Ashtabula Harbor. With wine in one hand and walleye in the other, it’s the kind of event that turns a summer weekend into a tradition. This three-day festival celebrates two local favorites—Lake Erie’s prized walleye and handcrafted Ohio wines—with nonstop music, food, family activities, and a lakefront setting that’s hard to beat.

Why the Wine & Walleye Festival Is a Must-Do

Held on Bridge Street in the heart of Ashtabula’s harbor district, the Wine & Walleye Festival draws thousands of guests each year. The street faire is packed with vendors selling local art, handmade goods, and regional treats. Acoustic sets, bands, and solo artists fill the air with music all weekend, from the main stage to the wine garden.

You can sip wines from Ohio vineyards. Or try something new in the beer tent, or grab a fresh walleye sandwich while you explore. Whether you come for the fish, the music or just looking to have a good time by the water, you will find something for everyone.

Don’t Miss the Lettie G. Howard

One of the festival’s highlights is the return of the Lettie G. Howard, an 1893 fishing schooner docked in the harbor. This National Historic Landmark offers public sails throughout the weekend. It’s a rare chance to step aboard one of the last remaining North Atlantic fishing vessels and enjoy the harbor from the water.

The Lighted Boat Parade and Fireworks Are Crowd Favorites

Saturday night brings a show you won’t forget. The lighted boat parade turns the harbor into a glowing river of lights. Boats decorated with colorful displays cruise past the bridge as crowds gather to watch. Then, as the final boat passes, fireworks burst over the water to close out the night.

Plan Your Weekend in Ashtabula

This festival has it all. From the fishing tournament and live music to the wine tastings and walleye tents, the Wine & Walleye Festival offers the full summer experience. Families can enjoy activities during the day. Meanwhile, adults can kick back in the wine garden or beer tent as the sun goes down.

Mark your calendar for July 25–27, 2025, and make your way to the Ashtabula Harbor. Visit the Wine & Walleye Festival website for all the details and celebrate what makes life along Lake Erie so memorable.
