4 Events to celebrate Autumn
Grab your sweaters, leaf-peepers. Carroll County is the home of four fall festivals – the Great Trail Festival, Atwood Lake Fall Festival, Carroll County Antique Collectors Club’s Antique Power Show, and the Algonquin Mill Fall Festival.
The Great Trail Festival Returns with Reenactments and Artisan Demos
The Great Trail Festival will celebrate its 44th year on August 23-24, August 30-31, and September 1 at its grounds, 6331 Canton Road, Malvern. Re-enactors will showcase their camps at the French-and-Indian-War rendezvous. There will be plenty of artisans selling their handcrafted items, as well as giving demonstrations. This year, the festival has added a farm market.
The Great Trail Festival is open 10 am – 5 pm daily. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for youth and children under 12 are free. Parking is free.
Antique Power Show Highlights Tractors and Family Fun
The Carroll County Antique Collectors Club will celebrate its 25th annual Antique Power Show September 19-21 this year at the Carroll County Fairgrounds, 160 Kensington Road NE, Carrollton. This year’s event will feature Massey Ferguson, Speedex and Briggs & Stratton.
With free admission and parking, the festival is all about tractors, starting with a garden tractor pull on Friday. There will be tractor pulls on Saturday and Sunday.
Atwood Lake Fall Festival Offers Family-Friendly Fun
Atwood Area Fall Festival has “Something for Everyone,” including crafts, demonstrations, a Fandango Kids Zone, a petting zoo, and an encampment. This family-friendly event will take place from October 3 to 5 at Atwood Lake Park in Mineral City.
Admission is $5 per person, free for children 11 years old and younger, and $3 for veterans and those 60 and older (Friday only). Organizers ask visitors to please bring exact change to keep traffic moving.
The Atwood Area Fall Festival is open from 10 am to 9 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
Celebrate History at the Algonquin Mill Fall Festival
The Algonquin Mill Fall Festival will celebrate its 53rd anniversary with its three-day festival held October 10-12, at its complex, 234 Autumn Road SW, Carrollton.
Open 9 am – 5 pm daily, visitors can tour a pioneer village, including a steam-powered flouring mill and sawmill. On Friday, area high-school bands and choirs perform, while country, Bluegrass and gospel music will fill the air Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of foods sold by area organizations, including the famous sauerkraut.
In addition, there will be demonstrations, unique handcrafted items, and a children’s area. Admission is $10 per vehicle.
