Quick & Easy Tuna Patties: A Family Dinner Lifesaver

A plate of tuna patties with slices of lemon and 2 glasses of water with lemons. k

The original recipe for tuna patties was from a Kraft magazine many years ago but the current recipe can be found at KraftHeinz.

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding a dinner recipe that’s both quick and universally loved can feel like striking gold. That’s precisely what these Tuna Patties are—a golden oldie from a Kraft recipe magazine about 20 years ago, proving to be a lifesaver over the years for this busy mom. Here’s how to whip up these delicious patties quickly, with a personal tweak: I usually leave out the carrot to simplify things.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (5 oz. each) chunk light tuna in water, drained and flaked
  • 1 package (6 oz.) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Chicken
  • 1 cup Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 1/3 cup KRAFT Real Mayo or MIRACLE WHIP Dressing
  • 2 tbsp CLAUSSEN Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Combine the Magic: Toss all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl—tuna, stuffing mix, cheddar cheese, water, shredded carrot, mayo, sweet pickle relish, and the beaten egg. Stir everything together until well mixed. Pop the bowl in the fridge for about 10 minutes. This little wait helps the ingredients stick together, making your patties easier to form.
  2. Cooking the Patties: Fire up your large nonstick skillet over medium heat and give it a quick spray with cooking spray. Once it’s hot, use an ice cream scoop to get 1/3 cup of the tuna mixture. Then gently place it in the skillet, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Flatten each scoop into a patty using the back of your spatula.
  3. Golden and Delicious: Let the patties cook for about 6 minutes. Then turn them once after 3 minutes, until each side is wonderfully golden brown. The key here is to turn them carefully to keep them intact and get that perfect crust.

These Tuna Patties are the perfect answer to the eternal question, “What’s for dinner?” They’re quick, easy, and, above all, a tasty way to end a busy day. Plus, they’re budget-friendly. Give them a try tonight and watch them become a new family favorite!
