Simple Spring Desserts: Light, Fresh Recipes to Make Now

simple spring desserts

As the weather warms up, I start thinking a little differently about dessert. The heavier treats we reach for in colder months begin to fade, and I find myself wanting something lighter, a little fresher, and honestly, a little easier to put together.

That is where simple spring desserts come in. They do not need a long list of ingredients or a lot of time in the kitchen. Instead, they focus on what is in season and let those flavors shine.

Simple Spring Desserts Feel Just Right This Time of Year

There is something about fresh berries and a hint of citrus that feels like spring. I love having a few go-to desserts that I can pull together quickly, especially when family stops by, or we just want a little something sweet after dinner.

Some of my favorites include strawberry shortcake, lemon bars, and even no-bake parfaits layered with whipped cream and fresh fruit. They are simple, but they always feel like a treat.

Fresh Berry Desserts Make It Easy

When berries start showing up in stores and markets, it almost feels like dessert makes itself. A bowl of strawberries with a little whipped topping can be enough, but with just a few extra steps, you can turn it into something that feels a bit more special.

That is one of the things I enjoy most about simple spring desserts. You can keep them as easy or dress them up depending on the day.

No-Bake Strawberry Shortcake Cups Recipe

This is one I come back to often because it is quick, easy, and always a hit. It is also perfect when you do not want to turn on the oven.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups whipped topping or whipped cream
  • 1 package shortcake cups or pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions:

  1.  In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries and sugar. Let them sit for about 10 to 15 minutes to release their juices.
  2. In serving cups, layer cake pieces, strawberries, and whipped topping.
  3. Repeat the layers until the cups are full.
  4. Finish with whipped topping and a few extra strawberries on top.
  5. Serve right away or chill until ready to enjoy.

Simple Spring Desserts to Keep on Hand

Simple spring desserts make it easy to enjoy the season without spending too much time in the kitchen. They are light, full of flavor, and easy to share.

Once you start making them, you will likely find a few favorites that stay in rotation all season long, especially when fresh ingredients are easy to find and hard to pass up.
