Follow a path less traveled and you will find an area blessed with wilderness, adventure and seclusion in Monroe County. Journey along the Appalachian Byway or the Ohio River Scenic Byway and you will find Monroe. Summer is a great time to visit.

Camp or hike at Piatt Park. From Woodsfield, travel east on State Route 78 to County Road 30 to Trail 2308. Piatt Park is 119 acres with recreation includes hiking through a fantastic cave and gorge area, camping with a picnic shelter, and playground. Piatt Park Trail is a 1.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Woodsfield, Ohio that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is accessible year-round for hiking, walking and nature trips.

The annual Monroe Powwow is hosted at the Hannibal Locks and Dam Visitors Center along State Route 7 on July 2-3. Come celebrate Native American history with a day of drums, dancing, and fellowship.

Motorcycle clubs or couples will enjoy a wide variety of routes in Monroe from State Route 7 along the Ohio River Scenic Byway or State Route 78 the Appalachian byway. Or, if you want more twisting and turning take the State Route 26 Wayne National Forest historic covered bridge tour.
