Discover the Magic of Fall in Zanesville

If you’re looking to experience the magic of fall, there’s no better place than Zanesville. Zanesville offers the perfect blend of family fun and ghostly adventures.

The Y-City Scarecrow Display-Contest

Throughout October, you’ll enjoy the Y-City Scarecrow Display Contest. Local businesses, non-profits, schools, and individuals unleash their creativity on bare frames, transforming them into unique scarecrows. Each finished scarecrow along Main Street features a QR code for visitors to scan and vote.

“Some submissions are spooky, others imitate professional athletes or celebrities, and there are always a handful that are downright hilarious and will have you giggling as you walk by!” said Kaitlynne Peters, Marketing Specialist for the Zanesville-Muskingum Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Local Cuisine and Scenic Views

After exploring the scarecrows, drop into one of the locally-owned restaurants and breweries for a bite to eat. Burn off those calories with a stroll to the historic Y-Bridge. The view of the city from the bridge is breathtaking and perfect for a selfie.

Education of Yesterday 20th Annual Farm Show

Kids of all ages can spend the day at the Education of Yesterday 20th Annual Farm Show on October 19 & 20. Kenny Moore Jr. from Killbuck started a farm machinery business in Dresden at 19, aiming to share his love of trains and tractors with children.

Tractor parts, arts and crafts, and toys are available for sale. Attendees learn about various aspects of farm life through numerous demonstrations. Kids can even operate a small backhoe under adult supervision. Live music, food trucks, and train rides are all part of the celebration.

Ghost Hunts and Paranormal Adventures

Historic Prospect Place Estate offers ghost hunts for those intrigued by the paranormal.

“The house is rumored to be haunted by freed slaves from its time as a station on the Underground Railroad, victims of a railroad accident treated at the house, and old servants and guests of the house,” said Peters. “The Ghost Hunt guides share the history and let guests decide if they believe the property has any paranormal activity as they tour it late into the night.”

Downtown Zanesville is also teeming with paranormal activity. The Renner Theater hosts Ghost Tours and a guided walking tour downtown. Prospect Place even offers the Paranormal Training Academy for a deep dive into ghostly phenomena.
