Every year, as the leaves begin to change and the air grows cooler, the quaint village of Roscoe welcomes locals and visitors alike to its annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival. A celebration that captures the essence of fall, the festival is not just about the mouthwatering apple butter but about coming together as a community and embracing the heartwarming traditions of the season.

History of the Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival

The Apple Butter Festival in Roscoe has its roots deeply embedded in the village’s past. It began as a small gathering where local farmers and families would come together to make and share apple butter, a delicious spread made from slow-cooked apples mixed with sugar and spices. Over the years, what started as an intimate event transformed into a full-blown festival that draws visitors from neighboring towns and states.

The Apple Butter is the Main Attraction

The festival features two Apple Butter Stirrin’ areas, where large copper kettles are set over open fires, and the apple butter is stirred with long wooden paddles, filling the air with the delicious aroma of apples and spices. Music also fills the air, as the main stage features folk music performances, and area musicians gather along the street to share their talents.
