A Canaan Valley State Resort Park summer getaway brings together mountain views, scenic trails, outdoor adventure, and quiet moments that make visitors want to stay a little longer. Located about four hours from Northeast Ohio, Canaan Valley Resort State Park gives visitors plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the mountains. Choose from lodge rooms, cabins, cottages, or campsites, then spend your days hiking, sightseeing, or relaxing between activities.
Summer also brings a full calendar of events that gives visitors even more reasons to plan a trip. Friday evenings, especially, become a favorite time to gather outdoors as music fills the mountain air.

Music may fill Friday evenings, but daytime at Canaan Valley brings even more ways to get outside. Guided hikes give visitors the chance to see more of the valley, spend time on the trails, and experience parts of the resort many travelers might otherwise miss.
Guided Hikes Offer a Closer Look at the Valley
Visitors who enjoy spending time on the trails can join the Brew Hike Thru Hike on June 6. This guided experience traverses seven of the resort’s well-known trails and highlights the changing landscapes of Canaan Valley. The hike ends with a taco bar and West Virginia craft brews, with nonalcoholic options available.
The Mid-Summer Walk Between the Parks takes place on July 11 and August 1 at 9 a.m. The guided eight-mile hike gives participants the chance to experience different landscapes and ecosystems while seeing more of the valley on foot.

Celebrate West Virginia Weekend Brings Outdoor Fun
Beyond the trails, summer events bring even more activity to the resort. From June 19 through 21, Celebrate WV Weekend fills Canaan Valley Resort State Park with activities for all ages. Guests can enjoy live music, guided hikes, outdoor recreation, tournaments, craft activities, glow pool parties, cookouts, and West Virginia-inspired dining. Guided bus tours through nearby Davis and Thomas add another way to explore the area.
The weekend also includes WV Irish Road Bowling on June 21. Teams roll a small iron ball, called a bullet, along a road course and compete to reach the finish in the fewest throws. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with bowling starting at 1:30 p.m.
