Zoar’s Christmas Tours bring cozy moments, familiar traditions, and a touch of old-world charm to December. Historic Zoar Village opens its doors on November 29, December 6, and December 13 for guided holiday tours, with an expanded celebration held on the middle date.
Seasonal Celebrations in Historic Zoar Village
Guided Christmas Tours run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and guests will need a reservation to join. Tours depart every 30 minutes. Each one leads guests through decorated historic buildings that highlight German and American traditions and long-loved holiday customs.
Christmas in Zoar’s Holiday Traditions
On December 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the village hosts an expanded holiday celebration. Demonstrations show how nineteenth century American and German families prepared for the season. Visitors can watch these demonstrations throughout the day.
Holiday characters add even more fun to the celebration. Krampus, Kristkind, Father Christmas, the German Belsnickel, and Santa and Mrs. Claus greet families in buildings across the village. All characters appear during the Christmas Tours and the December 6 event.

Guests can also enjoy activities throughout the village. They can take part in the Merry Miles 5K race and enjoy live entertainment. Hot chocolate is available, and the annual pickle hunt adds even more fun. Holiday shopping is another highlight for many visitors. The Zoar Store, Zoar Bakery, and local vendors offer seasonal décor, gifts, and handmade items not found in big stores.
The day ends on a meaningful note. Guests can attend a 5 p.m. church service at the Zoar United Church of Christ. After the service, everyone gathers for a 6 p.m. tree lighting ceremony in the Zoar Garden.
Live Holiday Music Across Zoar
Music fills the village throughout the day. Performances include the Camarada Brass Quintet, Trombone Alliance, Northwest High School Choir, Delphian Chorale, North Canton High School Choir, and the Bravera Woodwind Quintet. Some groups perform inside the Zoar Meeting House, adding even more warmth to the experience.
