Ashtabula Covered Bridge Festival Executive Director Ginger Whitehead says the evening marks a milestone for the community.
“This is the first time we have held a dinner in Harpersfield Bridge. And with this year’s theme of America’s 250th celebration, they will be decorating the tables in red, white, and blue, with a picnic theme.”


The setting is painted in natural wonder. Guests dine inside one of Ohio’s historic covered bridges, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Grand River. If an evening where history, community, great food, and good times come together under one roof sounds appealing—this is for you.

Patrons enjoy a hearty picnic-themed menu. This year it features fried chicken, pulled pork and buns, macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans, fruit salad, veggie trays, cheese and crackers, and beverages. Local wineries, M Cellars, Grand River Cellars and The Winery at Spring Hill will offer tastings and sales.


As the evening unfolds, diners can soak in scenic river views while perusing a silent auction and souvenirs. Every ticket helps support the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department.

The Harpersfield Covered Bridge is a double-span Howe truss bridge and one of 17 drivable covered bridges in Ashtabula County. At 228 feet, it is the third-longest covered bridge in Ohio. A pedestrian walkway, added during the bridge’s 1991-1992 renovation, allows visitors to appreciate both the craftsmanship of the structure and the natural beauty surrounding it
