Christmas in Hudson Ohio: A Small-Town Holiday to Remember

A mother and daughter looking at German inspired gifts at the Hudson Ohio Christkindl market.

Hudson, Ohio, is a charming place that feels like home during the Christmas season. It’s the kind of town where you can slow down, enjoy the season, and make simple but meaningful memories. If you’re looking for a holiday escape, here’s why Hudson should be on your list this year:

Blitzen’s Holiday Pop-Up Bar

Stop by Blitzen’s Holiday Pop-Up Bar at Hudson’s Restaurant if you love a little holiday fun. It’s open from November 7, 2024, to January 4, 2025, and it’s hard not to smile when you see the over-the-top decorations and creative holiday drinks—swing by between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to kick back with friends or unwind after some shopping.

Lighting of the Greens

On Friday, November 29, 2024, the season kicks off with Hudson’s Home for the Holidays Extravaganza, which includes the 76th Lighting of the Greens event at the Gazebo Green. Things start at 4 p.m. You’ll hear carolers singing, see kids with candy canes, and smell cookies baking nearby. There’s even an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest—you can pre-register or join on the day of the event.

At 5:14 p.m., the tree lights up after the Mayor’s countdown, and everyone joins in the caroling. It’s simple but special and a great way to share the season with loved ones.

Holiday Walk

The Hudson Holiday Walk happens on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from noon to 4 p.m. It’s a great day for families. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there, and kids can enjoy crafts, write letters to Santa, and sip on hot cocoa. You can also take a carriage ride around town.

They’re collecting unwrapped toys to support local military families, but participation is not required. It’s one of those events that makes you feel good just being part of it.

Hudson Ohio Christkindlmarkt

One of Hudson’s most unique features is its connection to Landsberg am Lech, a small town in Germany. The two towns are sister cities, and every year, Hudson hosts the Christkindlmarkt to celebrate that bond.

The market will run from December 13 to 15, 2024, on the Clocktower Green at 139 N Main St. You’ll find hand-crafted gifts, delicious German treats, and live entertainment. It’s like stepping into a little piece of Germany here in Ohio. Walking through the market with warm drinks and twinkling lights around you makes it feel like Christmas.

Window Displays and Christmas Lights Adorn the Streets of Hudson Ohio

Downtown Hudson turns into a glowing wonderland during the holidays. Storefronts are decorated with care, and walking down the streets at night feels magical. Even if you don’t shop, the lights alone are worth the trip.

Hudson Community Chorus

If you love holiday music, the Hudson Community Chorus puts on an outstanding performance every year. They haven’t announced the dates yet, but it’s always a beautiful evening.

Hudson, Ohio, has a way of making you feel like you belong, even if it’s your first time visiting. From sipping cocoa to sharing stories under the lights, it’s the kind of place where the simple joys of Christmas come to life. Bring your family, take your time, and enjoy everything this little town offers during the holidays.
