The charming town of Vermilion sits along the shores of Lake Erie, offering everything a small lakefront town has to offer. From water sports, beautiful sandy beaches, a welcoming main street, and family-friendly activities, this little slice of heaven is ready for you to “drop anchor” and stay awhile.

Every 3rd Thursday through September, downtown Vermilion pulsates with the music of 25-30 bands as they celebrate 3rd Thursday. The streets and Victory Park will play stage to musicians from 5 pm to sunset as visitors and locals shop to their musical favorites such as jazz, country, or classic rock tunes. Afterward, grab a lawn chair and hang out with friends to enjoy the breeze blowing off the lake while listening to music.
Come out June 16-18 as Vermilion celebrates the 57th anniversary of the Festival of Fish with three days of fun, music, and festivities. This year’s theme is Fishstock Peace, Music, and Perch. The three-day event includes activities from the lighted boat parade to the Crazy Craft Regatta. Planning for the regatta begins months in advance as contestants design and build their crafts, which must be made without using any boat/paddle boarding material. Prizes will be awarded for the lighted boat parade and the regatta.

Other events include a Firefighters water fight, a sand castle building contest on the beach, Friday night fireworks from the break wall, and various popular bands—Disco Inferno, Leading Edge, tribute bands, and much more.

Approximately 40-45 food vendors will be on hand serving mouthwatering summer treats, and craft vendors will be throughout Victory Park, Exchange Park, and alongside merchants on Main Street.
Visitors and vendors join in on the fun with your festive Woodstock/Fishstock attire and merchandise.
It is easy to see why this town is so special once you spend a little time here. The city dealt with losing a primary source of income when a Ford plant closed. It could have been the end for this picturesque little town. But the local government, schools, businesses, and citizens came together to create a vibrant, charming, thriving lakeside community.
Executive Director of Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, Sandra Coe, aptly describes it as “Vermilion is a slice of Americana.”
From the sandy beaches of Lake Erie and the storefronts on Main Street to the homes where families live and play, Vermilion celebrates life, family, and community 365 days a year. Plan your visit to the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce today and get a little sand between your toes.
