Exploring Sandusky County Sculpture in the Village

Art, Air, and Remembrance at Williams Park, Gibson, Ohio

Williams Park in Gibsonburg, Ohio, turns a simple walk into something unexpectedly inspiring. Centered around a man-made quarry lake, the park’s paved loop, about a third of a mile, invites you to stretch your legs, breathe in fresh air, and discover art in the open. A lighted fountain adds a gentle focal point on the water, making the setting feel both relaxing and celebratory.

Sandusky County Sculpture in the Village Outdoor Exhibit

What truly sets Williams Park apart is Sculpture in the Village, an outdoor sculpture exhibit woven into the path itself. As you circle the lake, you’ll encounter a collection the Village describes as 33 unique sculptures. Eight are permanent donations, while the remaining pieces rotate about every two years, giving locals and visitors a reason to return and experience something new.

9/11 Public Safety Service Memorial

Among the standout works is the 9/11 Public Safety Service Memorial, created by sculptor Jim Havens. It is described as being made from more than 7,000 pounds of steel recovered from the North World Trade Center, giving the park a powerful space for reflection within its broader atmosphere of discovery.
