Christmas Candlelighting Days
Roscoe Village’s Christmas Candlelighting Days take place each year on the first two Saturdays in December—December 6 and 13 in 2025. For more than 50 years, this event has captured the spirit of the holidays with a full day of seasonal experiences. Visitors can stroll through the village, shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, hear carolers and taste roasted chestnuts, take photos with Santa, and explore a special holiday-themed tour that brings 19th-century Christmas traditions to life.
A Roscoe Christmas Tour
A Roscoe Christmas Tour offers guests a chance to explore the holiday stories, games, and customs of the 1800s. The self-guided tour gives guests the freedom to explore exhibits at their own pace while enjoying the shops and restaurants along the way. The tour is available between 10 am and 4 pm on both Candlelighting Days and from December 20 through December 31. (Please note that the village is closed on Christmas Day.)
The Candlelighting Ceremony
The highlight of the celebration is the Candlelighting Ceremony, held at 6 pm. Visitors gather in the heart of the village beside the Roscoe Village Christmas tree. Holiday stories are told and music is performed, all leading to the lighting of the giant tree. The ceremony ends with the passing of the light. From a single candle, the flame is passed from person to person as hundreds of voices join in singing Silent Night. It’s a holiday memory that will always be remembered.
Shopping and Dining in Roscoe Village
Roscoe Village’s shops are full of locally-made items, from handcrafted leather goods, artisan soaps, and candles to fine jewelry, home décor, artwork, and gourmet pet treats, even old-fashioned candy and Ohio wines. Dining options include four restaurants and a coffee shop, offering everything from classic comfort foods to Texas-style barbecue. On Candlelighting nights, shops and restaurants stay open late to welcome guests after the ceremony.
