When a Wall Becomes a Story
Small towns carry their stories in quiet ways. In places like Caldwell, city murals are becoming a part of everyday life, reflecting the people who live there and the connections they share. Although these towns may not always make headlines, they hold deep roots, shared history, and a strong sense of belonging.
The 50 in 50 Project and a National Vision for Small-Town Murals
That spirit is what artist Cheyenne Renee seeks out through her 50 in 50 project. She created a national initiative to paint a mural in 50 small towns across all 50 states. Each stop is less about the wall itself and more about the people who pass by, pause to talk, and leave their mark through shared stories.
Noble County’s Place in a 50-State Mural Journey

Noble County recently became part of that nationwide journey. As Cheyenne continues the project, she works within tight schedules and unpredictable winter weather. Her goal is to complete all 50 murals by mid-February, conditions allowing. The Noble County mural reflects both her artistic vision and the community that surrounded her while she worked.
This mural project extends well beyond paint and brushes. As Cheyenne travels from town to town, she records her creative process and the conversations she has with residents, business owners, and community members. Those moments are being woven into a documentary that highlights small-town America through authentic voices and lived experiences.
Before the documentary is released publicly, Cheyenne plans to allow every town to view the film locally first. This will enable residents to see their stories and shared moments on screen before the documentary reaches a broader audience.
Why Community Art and City Murals Matter
Public art through murals and sculptures brings people together in unexpected ways. Every day, spaces become shared experiences for the community and visitors. Over time, these art pieces become lasting landmarks that shape how locals and visitors alike reflect on the community.

A Lasting Legacy for Noble County
For Noble County, this mural now stands as both a finished work of community art and a marker of a moment in time. It captures a piece of the community and shares it with a larger national vision of these incredible small towns across America.
As Cheyenne Renee continues her 50 in 50 project across the country, Noble County remains connected to a growing network of small towns linked by art, conversation, and the stories that make each place feel like home.
