McCook House Civil War Museum brings Holiday Traditions

The exterior of the McCook House

A small-town community brings Christmas magic through the McCook House Civil War Museum in Carrollton, Ohio. Experience the 1830s holiday season with soft lights, wassail punch, and Christmas cookies.

Each year, the holiday kicks off by watching the unveiling of Christmas trees decorated by local clubs and groups within the community. This year it will take place on Friday, November 25 from 1 p.m.–8 p.m.

Continue the fun on Saturday with an open house at the McCook House followed by a Christmas Concert featuring soloists Kathleen Horn and Bradley Miley.

The fun and magic continue throughout the weekend with an evening parade where Santa and Mrs. Clause arrive by firetruck. There is also a downtown reveal of skillfully decorated holiday windows and  a candlelight tour of downtown Carrollton.

Grab a small passport booklet from the Carrollton Chamber’s office before you start your local holiday shopping and be sure they stamp your passport before leaving. Once your passport is complete drop it back off at the chamber to be entered into a drawing for a prize.
