The Fall Foothills Festival and Iron and Power Show
The Appalachian Fall Foothills Festival, held annually at the Noble County Fairgrounds in Heritage Park, celebrates Appalachian culture and natural beauty. This unique event combines two festivals, offering a rich blend of historical experiences and lively activities for all ages.
Heritage Park: A Step Back in Time
Heritage Park transports visitors back to the 1850s. A beautifully restored log cabin, covered bridge, church, and one-room schoolhouse are open for exploration. Meanwhile, the park buzzes with activity as crafters, a blacksmith, and demonstrators showcase old-fashioned skills used by early settlers.
Children can experience what schooling was like for their ancestors in the one-room schoolhouse. Then, head over to the historic church for a quilt show offering a glimpse into the intricate art of quilting. On Saturday, enjoy the soulful sounds of the Short Line Bluegrass Band.
Iron and Power Show: A Tribute to Agricultural Heritage
Simultaneously, the other side of the fairgrounds hosts the Iron and Power Show, featuring hundreds of antique tractors and steam-powered equipment. This part of the festival is a tribute to the region’s rich agricultural history. Visitors can enjoy a chicken BBQ, explore the flea market, and ride a horse-drawn wagon.
The tractor parade and kiddie tractor pull provide entertainment for all ages, while hit-and-miss engines demonstrate the ingenuity of early agricultural machinery. Vendors offer pumpkins, gourds, and fall décor items to take home. On Sunday, enjoy country music by Pickin’ on Country Band.
