Belle Valley, Ohio, Celebrates 28 Years of Classic Cars, Community, and a Great Cause

On July 4, 2026, the Noble County Fairgrounds in Belle Valley hosts its 28th Annual 4th of July Car Show. It’s one of southeast Ohio’s longest-running summer traditions — and this year it lands right in the middle of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

How a Flood Started One of Ohio’s Best Car Shows

The story starts in 1998. A handful of car enthusiasts answered a call from Joe Smith of the Junior 4-H Board. The idea: fill the fairgrounds, sell chicken dinners, and raise money to send local kids to summer camp. Then, in days, 10 inches of rain fell. Locals still call it “The Flood of ’98.” Organizers pushed the date back one week. Eighty cars showed up anyway. The 4-H sold out of chicken dinners. Every dollar went to the kids — and an Ohio tradition was born.

Noble County’s Car Show Grows: From 80 Cars to a 12-Foot Trophy

The show grew fast. By 2000, strong promotion brought 250 entries and trophy giveaways that turned heads. In 2001 — Noble County’s 150th birthday — the Best of Show prize stood 12 feet, 3 inches tall. Cruising Times Magazine reported it as the largest car show trophy ever awarded in Ohio at that time. The community kept showing up. So did the cars.

Meet the Noble County Cruzers: The Club Behind the Car Show

In 2010, local enthusiast Steve Hall founded the Noble County Cruzers. The club launched with 21 people at Marianne’s Restaurant in Belle Valley and grew to more than 100 members. The Cruzers brought fresh energy — dash plaques, free T-shirts for the first 100 entries, music, a country store, and special recognition for veterans showing cars. Through every change, one thing stayed the same: all proceeds go to the local 4-H program.

Noble County’s July 4th Car Show in 2026: A New Chapter

This year, longtime Cruzers member Ed Gillespie steps in as club president. The timing couldn’t be bigger — America turns 250, and Noble County’s show turns 28. As Jeff Minosky, Noble County Tourism Director and someone who has attended every show since 1998, puts it:

“If you like to show cars, look at cars, and talk cars, then come to the Noble County Fairgrounds, relax, and enjoy an old-fashioned car show.”
