Since the early days of steamship travel, Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island) has been the top Lake Erie destination. A year-round community and summer resort, Put-in-Bay is located in Ohio on South Bass Island in the western basin of Lake Erie. Most visitors and islanders refer to South Bass Island simply as Put-in-Bay.

Visit the Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, the most iconic symbol of the Bay.

Foodie Fun for all! What is a trip without sampling the local cuisine? Take a stroll down the Put-in-Bay Foodie Trail on Trails.Ohio.org. Offering more than 25 great places to eat all within walking distance from the downtown. The Bay is the Walleye Capital of the World so why not try some fresh perch or walleye. Relax and sip some wine at our two great island wineries. Eat, drink and enjoy!

Shop at the Bay. From nautical decor and island artwork to children’s toys and Put-in-Bay clothing, our shops have what you need to remember your stay on the island. Many shops feature local items from local artists.

June 11 – 48th Founder’s DayCelebrate the founding of Put-in-Bay by Hispanic merchant Jose DeRivera. Many vendors of all kinds and the highlight of the day is the “shore-cake” from 11 am – 4 pm at DeRivera Park.

June 24–26 – Put-in-Bay Pyrate Festival – The Pyrate King returns for 3 days to find his stolen treasure. From a Bar Crawl for the adults on Friday night to a Saturday and Sunday full of family fun. Includes vendors, costume contests and the annual Kids Fest. Dress as a Pyrate and join in all of the fun!  For more info facebook.com/pyratefest.

July 4 – Bang on the Bay – Have you ever watched fireworks shot over the water? Then you need to come to the Bay and enjoy the reflective display.

August 20-21 – Oliver Hazard Perry Birthday Celebration See the USS Brig Niagara and the Pride of Baltimore flagships.

September 10 – Art in the Park – Held on this historic weekend, we host regional artists and craft venders that sell their original works in photography, watercolor, acrylic, pottery, glass and much more. Live demonstrations as well from 10 am – 5 pm at DeRivera Park.

September 17 – Big Day at the Bay –

Half-Way to St. Patty’s Day – Celebrate the half-way mark to St. Patrick’s Day. Hooligan’s Irish Pub sponsors a drum and bagpipe band. Dress up your golf cart and join in the parade.

Put-in-Bay Music Festival – Celebrate peace through music, great food, fun and games at this family-friendly festival.

New Year’s Eve at the Bay – Island businesses celebrate New Year’s Eve with Monte Carlo Street games from 6 – 11 pm.

October 1 – Island Wine Festival – Enjoy good food and excellent wine. Admission includes souvenir glass, 11 am – 5 pm at the Put-in-Bay Winery.

October 8-9 – Oktoberfest – This annual festival celebrates German food, hot spiced wine and cold beer. Saturday from 11 am – 7 pm and Sunday from noon – 5 pm at DeRivera Park.
