A Village Steeped in German Heritage

Historic Zoar Village is more than just a pretty backdrop; it’s one of America’s most authentic examples of early German-American life. Founded in 1817 by German Separatists seeking religious freedom, Zoar thrived for more than 80 years as a communal settlement. Today, it is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, with dozens of preserved structures that tell the story of its people, their craftsmanship, and their deep-rooted customs.

Whether you’re strolling through the picturesque village, savoring baked goods from the Bakery, or discovering treasures in the Zoar Store, you’ll find the charm of Christmas everywhere you turn.
