Each year the holiday season brings a little extra magic to the Canton Palace Theatre. The historic beauty of the theatre shines, adorned with wreathes, bows, and more, as patrons come to enjoy their favorite holiday traditions and make new memories. This year’s programming is bound to delight audiences young and old.
For many, attending live performances at the theatre with family and friends has become a can’t-miss tradition. The Canton Christmas Spectacular on November 15 at 7 pm and November 16 at 2 pm will feature area groups and artists performing holiday music, dance, skits, and more in a variety show format. The talented singers of Majestic Voice Chorus will host the holiday music showcase on December 7.
A highlight of the holiday season is watching the snow gently fall on stage as the dancers of Canton Ballet perform The Nutcracker, December 13-15. Audiences can witness nationally-acclaimed musicians, the Wizards of Winter, as they return to the Canton Palace Theatre stage on December 17, and Diamond Rio performing “Holiday & Hits” on December 19.
In addition to live events, patrons can view their favorite holiday films again on Canton’s largest screen, or even share classic Christmas movies with the next generation of movie lovers. This year’s holiday film schedule includes A Christmas Story November 29 and 30 at 7:30 pm, It’s a Wonderful Life December 20 at 7:30 pm, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation December 21 at 7:30 pm, and Elf December 22 at 7:30 pm. And it wouldn’t be the holiday season without The Polar Express. The film will be the featured free family movie for Canton First Friday on December 6 at 7:30 pm, as well as the Sensory Cinema presentation on December 21 at 3 pm.
For all Sensory Cinema showings the theatre environment is tailored to attendees on the Autism Spectrum and their families. This includes lower levels of sound and dim lights, dietary sensitive offerings in the concession stand including gluten and dairy free options, trained staff and family restrooms.
The diverse programming at the Canton Palace Theatre means there’s something for everyone to enjoy. So, gather your friends and family and make plans to join us this holiday season – and don’t forget the popcorn!
