In the 1940s, Marvin and Ethel Merriner moved in, turning it into a grocery store and pool room, affectionately known as the “Dew Drop Inn.” Marvin, a former circus performer and railroad engineer, and Ethel created a gathering place for the community. Kids stopped by for candy and soda, and locals gathered to socialize and barter goods.
A Family Tradition
After Marvin passed away in 1964, his son Charles inherited the building. Charles added a personal touch by building an apartment and later worked for the local school system. When Charles died in 1998, his family decided to restore the building and open Marv’s Restaurant in honor of their father and grandfather.
