Memories of Christmas Past Returns to Arms Family Museum

Mahoning Valley Historical Society (MVHS) will open the 13th Memories of Christmas Past exhibit at Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday, November 20, 2021, and it will run through Friday, December 31, 2021. The popular annual yuletide exhibit was cancelled in 2020, and many past visitors are very eager to see what this upcoming holiday season’s display will bring.

This former Arts & Crafts-style residence of Wilford P. and Olive F. A. Arms was built in 1905 and is nicknamed “Greystone” because of its exterior cladding. The main floor’s seven period rooms will feature festive vintage decorations and traditions from the 1900–1930s, inspired by how Olive Arms might have decorated her home in that early 20th century era.

Anthony Worrellia, Memories of Christmas Past designer since its inception and avid vintage Christmas collector, began planning the exhibit and searched for period holiday artifacts throughout the past year. The exhibit will again be complimented by a gift shop experience of both new and vintage holiday merchandise.

The Hands-On-History Room on the museum’s lower level will once again be transformed into a Christmas-themed experience for visitors of all ages. Its family-friendly décor will have areas for “sELFies,” viewing of holiday videos, and festive crafts and activities to take home.

Holiday hours for Memories of Christmas Past are Tuesday–Sunday, Noon–4 pm. It will also be open during evenings on Twilight Thursdays from 4-7 pm.

Extra open hours will be on Monday, December 27, 2021 from Noon–4 pm, and on its final day of the season, Friday, December 31, 2021 from Noon–7 pm. The museum will be closed on all other Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

All holiday season details, including admissions fees and health safety policies, will be added to the MVHS website at https://mahoninghistory.org/mcp/.
