Unique Wine and Cookie Experience

Explore Ohio’s wine culture with the Ohio Wine Producers Association’s December promotion. Participate in unique wine and cookie experiences at five distinct wineries—an excellent opportunity for wine enthusiasts.

As a wine enthusiast and an adventurous foodie, I was immediately drawn to the Ohio Wine Producers Association’s unique December promotion, “Not Your Cookie Cutter Vino,” in Stark County. This event promised a blend of fine wines, charming wineries, and a delightful twist – collecting unique cookie cutters and recipes.

In this blog, I am excited to guide you through my experiences at the five participating wineries, each showcasing its distinct flavors and a festive spirit that encapsulates the essence of this event.

My first stop was Cherry Road Winery, a quaint establishment known for its cozy ambiance and signature wines, perfectly capturing the essence of Ohio’s rich winemaking tradition. The staff greeted me warmly, and I was immediately intrigued by their renowned sweet red blend, “Only Happy.” This delightful wine, a harmonious blend of Concord and Niagara grapes, offered a luscious, fruity experience that dances on the palate.

Following the delightful wine tasting, I was presented with my pass and the first cookie cutter – a wine glass one, along with a classic sugar cookie recipe (they offer a variety of cutters). This set the stage for the rest of my journey – sweet and welcoming, much like the wines of Cherry Road Winery. The experience here was more than just a tasting; it was a deep dive into the heart of Ohio’s wine culture.

Next on my journey was Dragonfly, a peaceful retreat en. This winery stood out with its diverse range of wines, catering to all tastes, from dry to sweet. Each wine, crafted from recipes they developed, reflects their deep love for the local community, giving each bottle a personal touch and story. The wines here were as refreshing and varied as the natural surroundings, offering a perfect harmony of flavors.

At this enchanting spot, I received a dragonfly-shaped cookie cutter and a recipe for ginger spice cookies, symbolizing the unique blend of the earthy environment and the rich, community-inspired flavors of their wines. I selected a wine bottle cookie cutter from their variety of options.

Gervasi Vineyard Resort & Spa stood out as a beacon of elegance, showcasing an award-winning array of over 30 varieties of wines, ranging from bold reds to sweet whites. Each wine is a testament to their commitment to tradition and craftsmanship. The exquisite selection offered a journey through diverse flavors and styles, making every sip a unique experience.

As I explored their impressive collection, the vineyard gifted me a holiday-themed cookie cutter along with a decadent sugar cookie recipe and icing, perfectly complementing the luxurious ambiance of my visit.

The journey then brought me to Lost Trail Winery, a hidden gem exuding rustic charm. Their philosophy shines through in their specialty wines, produced in small batches with carefully selected grapes. The aim is to create an experience that uplifts and invigorates, reminiscent of the joys of a day immersed in nature.

Each wine I tasted had a distinct character, echoing the winery’s commitment to quality and the outdoor lifestyle. Before I left I made a point to pick out a cookie cutter from the assortment they provided.

My final stop was at Maize Valley Winery, a vibrant destination where the commitment to crafting quality wines from fresh, local ingredients shines. From their fields to your glass, they meticulously create balanced flavors, catering to seasoned wine lovers and those new to the joys of viniculture.

It’s important to note that while their wines are available most days, they do not offer wine sampling, purchasing, or consumption on Sundays due to licensing. Amid this lively festive atmosphere, I received my last cookie cutter and cookie recipe.

With my pass fully marked, I reflected on the incredible experiences at each winery. The unique combination of wine tasting and cookie-cutter collecting made for a memorable December. I eagerly sent a snapshot of my completed card to info2@ohiowines.org, hoping for a chance to win an overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Canton Downtown.

“Not Your Cookie Cutter Vino” was more than a wine tour; it was a journey through the heart of Stark County’s winemaking culture, infused with holiday cheer. Each winery offered a distinct experience, united in their hospitality and passion for wine. This event perfectly exemplifies how wine can bring people together, and create lasting memories.

I look forward to my next visit to Stark County’s wineries, each a reminder of this delightful adventure.
